Travelling and having to leave your dog behind can be quite a stressful decision for the pet loving owner. Magnetic Island is a great place to holiday for both you and your dog and the bonus is that there is no extra charge for bringing your dog across on the ferries with you. Sealink requires even the friendliest of dogs to wear a muzzle as it is a passenger ferry and they cannot be held responsible for any mishaps. However the trip across is just 20 mins and a small price to pay to bring your dog on holiday with you.[/fusion_text][title size=”1″ content_align=”center” style_type=”default” sep_color=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” class=”” id=””]Transport[/title][fusion_text]Sealink: Passenger Ferry
Where the passenger is travelling with a dog, the passenger must be seated in the outdoor seating areas onboard the ferry and ensure the dog is muzzled and restrained at all times whilst in the terminals or onboard the ferry. Seating restrictions do not apply where the passenger is travelling with a guide or assistance dog. All other animals must be appropriately caged or restrained.

Fantasea: Vehicle and Passenger Ferry
Can I take my pet on the ferry? Yes, pets are welcome, but for health and safety reasons cannot enter the café area. Undercover seating is available outside of the café area if you wish to take your pet out of the car (but they do need to be kept on a leash).[/fusion_text][title size=”1″ content_align=”center” style_type=”default” sep_color=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” class=”” id=””]Accommodation[/title][fusion_text]Pet Friendly
Please feel free to research your own Pet friendly accommodations, but here are some properties that we have found that will allow your dog to stay with you.

Dog Minding
The rooms we offer to rent at Magnetic Life are unfortunately not pet friendly, nor are many of the hotels or units on the island. Fortunately, for small dogs we are able to recommend a Dog Minding Facility.

Maria’s Dog Grooming
Maria is a practicing dog groomer and an ex vet nurse.  She has been caring and pampering dogs for over 14 years. Her services include washing, conditioning, teeth cleaning, nail clipping, de-shedding, colouring, cleaning and trimming ears and other private areas. All products used are natural. There are no cages or muzzles used and you can be assured that your dog will receive individual attention and care.

Located in Horseshoe Bay,  Maria offers a Dog Minding Service for visitors to Magnetic Island who have small dogs under 10kg.  This service is professional but it is not her main business interest.  Therefore you can be assured there are no cages or kennels and your dog will enjoy the home comforts of sitting on the couch and running around in the backyard with the other dogs there.

Cost is just $15 per day (bring your own food).

PHONE: (07) 4778 5608

Maria has 2 dogs of her own and is home all day and night with them.   She will not accept any more than 2 extra dogs at any one time. The benefits of using her service is that you are welcome to come and collect your dog anytime during the day and take it for walks with you around the island or on the dog friendly beaches.

Please Note – Dogs are not permitted on the bushwalks as these areas are National Park.[/fusion_text][/one_full]
